A passenger train derailed in Pintung County of Taiwan early Tuesday morning, injuring 12 people, one seriously, according to reports reaching here from Taipei.
The train, carrying about 70 to 80 passengers, was on its way from Kaohung to Pintung when the accident happened.
Five of the six carriages tilted, injuring those 12 people. Most of the passengers were slightly injured and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
According to the head of the Pintung Railway station, it could not be caused by over-speeding as the fastest speed of the train was within 110 kilometers per hour.
