Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region reported 2.3 billion yuan (about US$284 million) in industrial output value in the first 10 months this year, a year on year rise of 12.5 percent, according to the latest official statistics.
The industrial added value of the region surged by 12.7 percent to reach 1.29 billion yuan in the ten-month period, according to the regional statistics bureau.
The bureau attributes the rapid industrial growth to fast development of various industrial sectors in the region.
The bureau says, the state-owned industrial enterprises registered 1.01 billion yuan in output value in the ten-month period, up 4.2 percent year on year. Collectively-owned enterprises realized 343 million yuan in output value, up 10.2 percent over the same period last year. Foreign-funded enterprises registered 187 million yuan in output value, up 8.1 percent.
The output value of the region's light industrial sector reached 798 million yuan, up 21.3 percent year on year. Increases were especially seen in food processing, beverage production, printing and pharmacy.
The region's heavy industrial sector posted an output value of 1.5 billion yuan, up 7.8 percent over the same period last year.
The bureau says that growth in major sectors as electrical generation, cement, medicines and beer also contributed to the region's overall industrial growth during the ten-month period.
