Cuban leader Fidel Castro's imminent China tour would enhance China-Cuba relations, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan in Beijing Tuesday.
Kong noted that Sino-Cuban relations had developed smoothly and the two nations had mutual understanding and mutual support.
Though bilateral trade was only worth 420 million US dollars in 2002, the two nations had a relatively greater room for expansion in the field, he added.
Fidel Castro's visit would help increase mutual trust, Kong said, and the leaders of the two countries would also have in-depth talks on the growth of bilateral ties so as to further advance cooperation in economic, enterprise and other fields, Kong said.
Castro is scheduled to pay a four-day state visit to China beginning Feb. 26 as guest of Chinese President Jiang Zemin.
