The Chinese government and people expressed their strong dissatisfaction and indignation over Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's latest visit to Tokyo's Yasukuni Shrine Tuesday.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue made the remarks in response to a reporter's question at the regular press conference.
China urges the Japanese leader to take an earnest and correct approach toward history and correct the wrongdoing with concrete actions and eliminate the pernicious influence.
The Yasukuni shrine, a symbol of Japanese militarism, honors more than 2.5 million Japanese war dead, including 14 Class-A war criminals of the World War II.
