Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and other top Cambodian leaders met separately Tuesday with a visiting Communist Party of China (CPC) delegation headed by Liu Yunshan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
During the meetings, King Sihamoni, Chea Sim, chairman of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and president of the Senate, Prince Norodom Ranariddh, chairman of the FUNCINPEC party and president of the National Assembly, and Hun Sen, vice chairman of the CPP and prime minister, exchanged views with the Chinese delegation on Sino-Cambodian ties and other issues of common concern.
Liu, also member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Committee's Publicity Department, conveyed regards from President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and other Chinese top leaders to Sihamoni, Chea Sim, Ranariddh and Hun Sen.
Liu spoke highly of the Cambodian government's efforts to develop Sino-Cambodian friendly ties and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the regional and international affairs. He also thanked the Cambodian government for its adherence to the one-China policy.
Liu said that China and Cambodia are good neighbors and both belong to developing countries. Both being the ruling parties, he said, the CPC and the CPP should further strengthen cooperation, exchange experience, and learn from each other in running state affairs. This he said will also serve to deepen and develop friendship between the two countries.
Cambodian leaders thanked the Chinese government, the CPC and the Chinese people for their consistent support and aid for the development of Cambodia over the past many years.
They reaffirmed that Cambodia will continue to adhere to the one-China policy, and strengthen and develop traditional friendship and cooperation with China in various fields.
The Chinese delegation arrived in Phnom Penh on Saturday for a five-day official goodwill visit at the invitation of the CPP and the royalist FUNCINPEC party.
