China's top legislator said in Beijing that China and Peru should expand cooperation and lift trade relations to a new level.
While meeting with a Peruvian Congress delegation, led by first vice-president Natale Amprimo Pla, Wu Bangguo, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said bilateral relations have developed smoothly since the two countries forged their diplomatic ties more than 30 years ago.
The two countries, reliable partners, have increased trust and kept sound cooperation in international affairs, Wu acknowledged.
The two countries with complimentary needs have maintained good momentum in trade relations, Wu said, expressing his appreciation for Peru's support on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet and human rights. The NPC is ready to strengthen exchanges with the Congress of Peru to deepen the friendship and promote bilateral relations, he added.
Peru has always cherished its friendship with China and hoped for further cooperation in a bid to advance bilateral relations no matter how international and domestic situations change, said Amprimo.
Amprimo reiterated Peru would continue to adhere to one-China policy.
