A senior CPC official called for efforts Sunday to promote the building of the Communist Party of China (CPC) through carrying forward the Spirit of Jinggang Mountains, the cradle of the Chinese revolution.
Wu Guanzheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC's Central Committee, said the main essence of the spirit is firmness in revolutionary belief, striving for success amid harsh conditions, seeking truth from facts, bravery in blazing a new road and relying on the broad masses.
Wu made the remarks here after visiting an ongoing exhibition at the National Museum of China on the Spirit of Jinggang Mountains, where the first base of the Chinese revolution under CPC's leadership was set up in 1927.
He described the spirit as the ideological weapon used by the Party to triumph in the revolution while leading the masses.
The spirit will also provide ideological power for China in its efforts to build a well-off society and open a new phase in building socialism with Chinese characteristics, said Wu.
Carrying on the spirit requires Party members to be clean and honest, be ready to making contributions, work hard for the undertakings of the Party and the people and build the Marxist world outlook, philosophy and values, he said.
It also requires the Party to be firm in fighting money worship, excessive pleasure seeking and extravagance, and calls for administering the Party strictly, Wu said.
He said the Party must honor its commitments with real achievements in making a clean Party and fighting against corruption.
