Chinese Customs reported a net tax revenue of 26.36 billion yuan (US$3.18 billion) in September, a record high for a single month.
The amount represents a rise of 24.06 percent year-on-year, an official of the General Administration of Customs said Thursday.
In the first half of the year, the Customs saw a drop in revenue largely due to reduced tax rates resulting from China's entry into the World Trade Organization.
Responding to the drop, customs houses across the country have taken effective measures to tighten supervision and fight smuggling. Increased imports have added to the revenue since July, said the official.
Customs sources forecast this year's total customs tax revenue would exceed 240 billion yuan (US$28.9 billion), close to last year's 249.8 billion yuan (US$30 billion).
