China will speed up legislation on regulating energy consumption to further develop a recycling economy.
A senior official with the National Development and Reform Commission says China will legislate on the management of recycling resources by giving priority to tertiary and high-tech industries.
It will also draw up detailed plans to manage energy consumption in various sectors, as well as reform traditional industries with new technology and strictly limit industries that use too much energy and cause serious pollution.
The official notes that China accounted for four percent of the world's total GDP last year, but a much higher percentage of the consumption of energy and other resources. The country's coal consumption is over 30 percent of the world total.
