On July 11, an opening ceremony for Zheng He's bronze statue was held in Quanzhou to mark the day when Zheng He embarked on his first voyage into the west ocean in 1405. Commemorative stamps were also issued by the city.
July 11 has been set by China as the national Maritime Day in Zheng He's honor.
