How to get there:
Xitang is 90 km from Shanghai, 110 km from Hangzhou and 85 km from Suzhou.
From Shanghai:
On weekends and public holidays, special-line buses to Xitang set off at 9:00 from Shanghai Stadium and Shanghai Hongkou Soccer Stadium and leave Xitang at 16:00; 85 yuan (including admission fee).
From Hangzhou:
Buses are also available at Hangzhou east bus station to Jiashan County. Every 40 minutes; approx. 1.5 hours; 27 yuan.
Visitors from Hangzhou or Shanghai also can take a train to Jiashan County first. Buses to Xitang depart every five minutes from the Jiashan bus station. A taxi from Jiashan railway station to Xitang costs between 25 and 30 yuan.
Hotels:
Xitang Holiday Restaurant (0573-456 7388) is the best hotel in the town. Other well-equipped hotels are Yao’s Home; Tongcun Hostel, Ruyilou Hostel, and Shendetang Hostel.
