Chinese archeologists have discovered three 2,000-year-old tombs in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, excavating over 100 pieces of pottery and other funeral articles.
The tombs, unearthed near the construction site of an expressway in Zhongxian County, are believed to be built in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220), said Song Qing, who was in charge of the excavation.
The archeologists conjectured that the owner of the No. three tomb, which is 3.8 meters long and 1.75 meters wide, might be a noble lord, as the tomb contained over 60 pieces of green glazed pottery wares, including a series of rare figurines in shapes of dancing or playing various traditional musical instruments and a long iron sword.
Other excavations from the site include pottery pigs, dogs and jars and copper coins.
