United States would consider the war against Iraq a success even if President Saddam Hussein was not captured, the White House said on Friday.
President George W. Bush's "definition of victory" was ridding Saddam of power, eliminating all weapons of mass destruction the regime possessed, and liberating the Iraqi people from "dictatorship," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said in response to Saddam's appearance on Iraqi television on Friday.
In the televised address to nation, Saddam urged the Iraqi people to "strike the enemies with force" and predicted final victory over the invaders.
