A photo collection on Japanese attack on Shanghai in January 1932 has been discovered in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
The 280-photo album features the details of Japan's attack on Shanghai in 1932. It also includes two maps and six pictures.
Published in 1932 by Japanese troops, the collection has a green woolen cover, said Xu Shiming, who discovered the collection.
The photos show the military maneuvering of Japanese land, air and navy forces in the "Songhu war" and military operations in other places, said Xin Peilin, a researcher with the Heilongjiang Academy of Social Sciences after a preliminary investigation, noting that descriptions are written from a Japanese point of view.
Stressing the great historical significance of the collection, Xin said it was a new proof of Japan's aggression against China, as the previous materials on the Songhu War mostly were in written forms.
