A farmer was killed by lightning when he was working in the field as the torrential rain swept the city at 6:00 PM in Shantou, south China's Guangdong Province August 4, 2004. A shabby house collapsed in the rain and left 5 injured, among them two were in critical conditions. Local weather bureau said the lightning have killed two and caused economic damages worth 400,000 yuan (US$48,000) since summer came.
