China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television says it will conduct a survey among the public to decide whether to introduce a filming rating system.
An official from the Administration, Wu Ke says opinions on the issue will be sought from more than 2,000 film viewers across the country this month. The results will play an important role in deciding whether or not to classify films and to set up pay-per-view TV programs.
The official says if the viewers support a rating system, the government will make immediate plans to set one up.
He added that Hong Kong's movies will enjoy more preferential policies on entering into the mainland market.
