German Troupe to Stage Chinese Musician's Work
The Bremen Chamber Orchestra, from the city where Beethoven debuted his first symphony in 1802, Friday took on a Chinese-composed music piece in Beijing.

The top German chamber orchestra's performance of "Invisible Landscapes" by Chinese musician Chen Xiaoyong is designed to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-German diplomatic ties, according to the event's organizer, the China Performing Arts Agency.

Stefan Geiger, a well-known German conductor, and pianist Ragna Schirmer, were invited to join the troupe's first performance in China.

Chen, born in Beijing in 1955, studied in the China Central Conservatory of Music from 1980 to 1985, and later went to Germany for further study. There he scored many top music prizes, and his works were often played in famous music festivals in Germany. He was commissioned to create "Invisible Landscapes" for the Bremen Chamber Orchestra.

The Bremen Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1980, was originally composed of top graduates from German music institutes. So far, the troupe has toured in the United States, South America, Russia, Japan and Europe.
