Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference

The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) is an organization of the Chinese people's patriotic united front, serving as a key mechanism for multiparty cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC. The CPPCC plays a major role in promoting socialist democracy and whole-process people's democracy in China. It is an important channel and specialized body for socialist consultative democracy, a key component of the state governance system, and a distinctively Chinese political institution. Unity and democracy are the two major themes of the CPPCC.

The CPPCC has national and local committees. Their working principles are: 

? upholding the CPC's leadership;

? adhering to the nature of the CPPCC; 

? forging great unity and solidarity; 

? advancing socialist democracy. 

Their main functions are: 

? engaging in political consultation; 

? exercising democratic oversight; 

? participating in and deliberating on the administration of state affairs.

中國人民政治協商會議是中國人民愛國統一戰線的組織，是中國共產黨領導的多黨合作和政治協商的重要機構，是中國政治生活中發揚社會主義民主、實踐全過程人民民主的重要形式，是社會主義協商民主的重要渠道和專門協商機構，是國家治理體系的重要組成部分，是具有中國特色的制度安排。團結和民主是中國人民政治協商會議的兩大主題。

中國人民政治協商會議設全國委員會和地方委員會，它們的工作原則是：堅持中國共產黨領導，堅持人民政協性質定位，堅持大團結大聯合，堅持發揚社會主義民主；主要職能是政治協商、民主監督、參政議政。
