Qipao

The Qipao has its origin in the long robes Manchu people wore in the Qing Dynasty (1616-1911). It evolved into the iconic dress in the years after the founding of the Republic   of China (1912-1949), as a result of the fusion of China's multi-ethnic fashion styles. From the 1920s to the late 1940s, the qipao was in vogue and became the most popular women's garment of the time. As time passed, the design of the qipao further evolved and incorporated tailoring details and structural features of Western clothing, making it more international and fashionable. The adapted qipao accentuates female beauty and curves. Fitting the context of women's liberation movement of the time, it grew quickly in popularity.

The qipao is an important example of Chinese fashion. In recent years, Chinese women have been seen wearing the qipao on many international occasions, exhibiting its elegance and beauty. 旗袍

旗袍，原指清代旗人所穿的長袍和民國女性的改良旗袍，是中國多民族服飾文化融合的產物。20世紀20年代至40年代末，旗袍風行，成為當時最普遍的女子服裝。在時代風尚的影響下，旗袍逐漸吸取西式服裝的剪裁和結構特點，形成更加國際化和現代化的樣式風格。改良后的旗袍讓女性的體態美和曲線美得到充分展現，迎合了當時女性解放的思想風潮，因而深受廣大女性的喜愛。
