A humane person helps others establish what he himself wishes to establish and achieve what he himself wishes to achieve.

This is a well-known saying in The Analects of Confucius. He who can stand firm himself may raise those fallen; he who has succeeded is able to provide generous relief to the poor. To love others is the basic meaning of ren (benevolence), and to help others is how one loves others.

This saying has three extended implications: First, do not impose on others what you do not like; second, be empathetic and considerate; and third, help others do likewise while making your own effort for success.

Speaking at the Parliament of Pakistan in April 2015, Xi Jinping said: The Chinese culture believes that to achieve success, one should help others succeed as well. China champions the right approach to principles and interests. We believe that to help Pakistan is to help ourselves.

己欲立而立人，己欲達(dá)而達(dá)人

“己欲立而立人，己欲達(dá)而達(dá)人”，出自《論語》，意為自己要站穩(wěn)，才能扶起摔倒的人；自己要騰達(dá)，才能博施濟(jì)眾。如果說“愛人”是“仁”的基本內(nèi)涵，那么“己欲立而立人，己欲達(dá)而達(dá)人”就是“愛人”的行動指南。這包含三個層面的含義：第一，自己不想要的，不要強(qiáng)加給他人；第二，推己及人、設(shè)身處地地為他人著想；第三，在自己努力爭取成功的時候，也要積極促進(jìn)和幫助他人獲得成功。

2015年4月，習(xí)近平在巴基斯坦議會的演講中指出，中華文化倡導(dǎo)“己欲立而立人，己欲達(dá)而達(dá)人”，中國堅(jiān)持正確義利觀，幫助巴基斯坦就是幫助我們自己。
