China's Defense and Military Development Enters the New Era

In his report "Secure a Decisive Victory in Building a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Respects and Strive for the Great Success of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" delivered at the 19th CPC National Congress on October 18, 2017, Xi Jinping declared that China had entered a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, opening a new chapter in the Chinese history. 

At a meeting of senior military leaders on October 26, 2017, he further pointed out that a new era for China's socialism also meant a new era for China's national defense and armed forces, offering a strategic vision for China's new defense needs that sets new requirements for the mission of the military and its future trajectory in response to domestic and global changes. 

國防和軍隊建設進入新時代

2017年10月18日，中國共產黨召開第十九次全國代表大會，習近平向大會作了題為《決勝全面建成小康社會 奪取新時代中國特色社會主義偉大勝利》的報告，指出“中國特色社會主義進入了新時代”，這是對中國發展歷史方位的全新界定。2017年10月26日，習近平在軍隊領導干部會議上指出，中國特色社會主義進入了新時代，國防和軍隊建設也進入了新時代。這是對中國國防和軍隊建設所處歷史方位的戰略判斷，意味著人民軍隊內外環境有了新變化、使命任務有了新拓展、建設發展有了新要求。
