A week-long exhibition on the economic achievements in the Tibet Autonomous Region with assistance from the whole country came to an end here Friday, attracting thousands of visitors from home and abroad.
The show was co-sponsored by a number of central and local government departments who have contributed to the fast development of Tibet since its peaceful liberation in 1950.
The visitors, who were deeply impressed with the exhibits, including over 600 photos and models, were of the same opinion that they were surprised to learn the great changes and development in the plateau region.
"Tibet is very attractive," said Zhou Xiaozhong, a businessman from Beijing. The man was so allured by the show that he immediately decided to visit Tibet next month.
Over the past days, many visitors bought various kinds of products, including Tibetan medicine and food, at the exhibition. They were also attracted by motorcycles manufactured by a Tibetan company and the performances of a Tibetan singing and dancing troupe.
Among the visitors, there were also some Tibetan students who are studying in Beijing. "The show makes me homesick," said one of them.
"It's a pity that the exhibition has lasted such a short time," said Sun Wenjing, a retired expert on Tibetan studies. If lasted for a longer period, the exhibition would help more people, especially foreigners, learn about Tibet, he said.
