The myths of love and marriage have become the popular subject of university lectures in China. A lecture on the topic can attract a hundred students with most being freshmen and sophomores.
Love and marriage do have their problems behind the rose tinted glasses and these lectures do appear to work in answering the many questions associated with the subject. They assist younger people solve many of the puzzles related to love and marriage….little wonder they are so popular!
"Don't think that today's kids are open-minded and tactful," said Xu Weisu, a teacher and psychological adviser at Huadong Normal University. "As a matter of fact many of them hardly know anything about love and marriage thus it's necessary to give lectures on the subject."
Love has long remained something of a secret topic in China. So is it proper to bring it to the classroom for discussion? Xu believes it's the secrecy that causes the problems and discussing the issue can only help the students to better understand and prepare for life.
