China's Central Archive has issued an unprecedented series of books, comprised of exact reproductions of Japanese war prisoners' confessions.
The books contain facsimile editions of original confessions by 45 Japanese prisoners of war during their trials in China. Printed complete and without modification, their confessions reveal the truth of Japanese aggression in China.
China took over and held more than 1000 Japanese prisoners of war after 1945. Most of them were released later, and 45 senior military officers guilty of serious war crimes were sentenced to prison.
Suzuki Keikuro, the former Japanese general responsible for brutal killings, burning and looting in China, was one of them.
Experts said the open publication of confessions of Japanese war prisoners is a blow to right-wing elements in Japan who try to distort and whitewash the Japanese history of aggression against China and other Asian countries.
