The number of tourists to China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) increased 16.1 percent year-on-year to 932,400 in April, hitting a monthly record in official tallies.
Hong Kong was the largest tourist source for Macao. Those from Hong Kong, China's inland, Taiwan and Japan account for 53.5 percent, 25.6 percent, 14.8 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively, of the total, according to the Statistics and Census Services.
The number of one-day visitors stood at 414,500, making up 44.5percent of the total. The index was released for the first time by the Statistics and Census Services.
Statistics show that Macao received 3.39 million tourists in the first four months of this year, up 13.7 percent from the same 2000 period.
