A 20-year-old college graduate attracted a lot of attention in Shanghai on Saturday, when he put up a poster seeking a job in advertising but only asked for a salary of one-yuan a month.
The young man said he was a recent graduate from Zhengzhou University in Henan Province, with a bachelor's degree in advertising. His aim is to find the ideal job with a Shanghai advertising company.
When asked why he had only asked for one yuan a month, he said he wanted to let people know that not all new graduates are expecting high salaries, and that the most important thing is to find a job which will fully demonstrate his talents. He says he would insist on this modest pay even if an employer wanted to offer him more.
The man says that currently he's living in a hostel, and he will give up and go back home if he doesn't find his ideal job within three months.
According to him, he's already had some job offers, but he's taking his time to ensure that they are what he's looking for.
