One pig-borne virus case originating from a southwestern province was found in south China's Guangdong Province, the local healthcare department confirmed on Friday.
The patient, the first of such cases in Guangdong Province, was registered Wednesday in Chao'an County of Chaozhou City in eastern Guangdong and was discharged from hospital on Friday after medical treatment and strict observation.
No symptoms of the pig-borne disease have been found from the patient's family members or colleagues.
The department said no new such case or the swine streptococosis II has been spotted in Guangdong.
The provincial government has instructed all relative departments to take preventative measures to fight the disease.
The endemic, which broke out in late June in several cities and counties in southwest China's Sichuan Province, has claimed lives of 32 as of 12 a.m. Friday, according to the Chinese Ministry of Health.
All the patients had direct contact with ill or dead pigs.
