Jackie Chan's latest action film New Police Story had since its release taken in over 40 million Yuan by the end of the National Holiday, exceeding last year's box office No.1, Internal Affairs 2.
Sources say that the total daily average box office takings in China during the Golden Week topped three million Yuan.
Chan is expected to fly to Beijing to celebrate with fans if earnings reach 50 million in the following days.
