Fu Quanyou, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met in Beijing Monday with visiting Brazilian chief of staff of the army Marcello Rufino dos Santos.
Fu, also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that Sino-Brazilian relations have seen smooth development since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1974.
The bilateral cooperation in various fields has also been promoted, he added, noting that on such a basis the military ties between China and Brazil have expanded.
Fu expressed his hope for maintaining the stable and healthy development of relations between the two armed forces in all fields.
He reaffirmed the Chinese government's stance on the Taiwan issue, and expressed gratitude for the support of the Brazilian government in this regard.
Marcello said it has been his hope for years to visit China, and he thought China is developing in an amazing speed, and China's experiences in economic construction is helpful to other developing countries.
Marcello expressed his hope to further push forwards the friendly ties between Brazil and China, and even between the two armed forces.
On June 7, Qian Shugen, deputy chief of General Staff of PLA held talks with Marcello.
