China Values Cooperation with Yugoslavia

China attaches importance to its cooperation with Yugoslavia in various fields including politics, economy, culture and education and believes that development of bilateral relations is in the fundamental interests of the two countries, Chinese State Councilor Wu Yi said here Monday.

Wu made the remark in her talks with visiting Yugoslavian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus, who is here as Wu's guest.

During the talks, they exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations, especially economic and trade relations and cooperation.

Wu said that she believes Labus' visit will be conducive to bilateral relations, especially bilateral economic and trade relations.

Wu said that China respects Yugoslavia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and the development path chosen by Yugoslavian people.

Wu expressed appreciation for the Yugoslavian government's consistent support for China's reunification cause and its principled stance on the "one-China" policy.

She expressed satisfaction with the growing bilateral trade and cooperation between the two countries, which she said has a long history and is fruitful.

Wu said there is vast potential for bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and she hopes that economic and trade departments of the two countries would enhance cooperation and exchanges, push forward the high-tech cooperation between their enterprises, and create conditions for further cooperation between their enterprises.

Labus, who is also minister of Foreign Economic Relations, said the Yugoslavian government attaches importance to relations with China and is ready to further cooperation of mutual benefit in various fields.

He said that the Yugoslavian government appreciates China's political and economic support for his country when it was bombed by NATO.

Yugoslavia appreciates China's foreign policy, especially China 's principles which stand for equality among countries, no matter big or small, strong or weak, and non-inteference in each other's internal affairs, he said.

The Yugoslavian government recognizes that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, said Labus.

He said that Yugoslavia places much importance on the development of its economic and trade cooperation with China on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

After the talks, the two sides signed an agreement on economic and technological cooperation at a ceremony attended by Wu and Labus.
