Half of Taiwan's working people hope to ditch their current jobs and take on new ones despite the bleak job market in the island province, according to the result of a survey released Tuesday.
The survey conducted by Taiwan-based udnjob.com said 66 percent of working people feel their current jobs will not bring them happiness, Taiwan's local media reported.
On the reasons for job changing, about 46 percent surveyed said their current salaries are below their expectations, 41 percent believe there are no opportunities for promotion and 41 percent said their companies have no prospects, the survey showed.
Of those who hope to change jobs, 21 percent said a higher salary was not essential because they realize that, in the current economic climate in Taiwan, a pay rise is not realistic.
The Taiwan media did not say how many people had been surveyed.
