President Hu Jintao and US President George W. Bush met in New York on Tuesday to discuss development of China-US relations and exchange views on major world and regional issues.
Hu arrived there yesterday from Mexico City to attend the UN summit scheduled for September 14-16.
The summit, at the UN headquarters in New York, is expected to bring together 180 heads of state and government, the largest gathering of world leaders in history. They will make decisions regarding development, security, human rights and UN reform.
It is expected to have a vital influence on the future of the UN and international relations, analysts said.
At the summit, Hu is due to deliver a speech on China's stance on the current international situation and major world issues, and put forward specific proposals including on UN reform and international cooperation.
