A monument was erected Wednesday in Qumeixingu of Yadong County, a battlefield of the anti-British war 100 years ago, in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.
The memorial monument is inscribed with a description of the war and the names of more than 1,400 soldiers and civilians who died in the fighting.
More than 600 people in the county joined the opening ceremony Wednesday.
In 1904, Tibetan people from all walks of life fought against the British colonialists. In the battle at Qumeixingu, the British army killed 1,400 people.
Tibetans have been commemorating the 100th anniversary of the anti-British struggle with a variety of activities beginning July.
