Females in China are now able to receive higher education in 65 colleges reserved exclusively for girls and women, in addition to the co-ed universities across the country.
These specialized colleges, mostly run by women's federations at different levels employ 2,000 teachers, enroll some 20,000 girl students and train more than 30,000 female cadres annually, said information from a recent national conference on education of women's federations held in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province.
Various women's federations also finance some 40 women's training centers and 360 venues for women's activities throughout the country, according to the information.
While addressing the national conference, Peng Peiyun, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People'ss Congress (NPC) and also chairwoman of the All-China Women's Federation, urged women's colleges to now focus their energy on vocational education and on-job training for females.
