South Korean director Kwak Jae-young's latest film Cyborg She hit theaters in China yesterday.
Kwak is widely popular among young filmgoers for his 2001 hit My Sassy Girl. Cyborg She is the final installment of his Sassy Girls Trilogy.
It crafts an interesting time-jumping, century-spanning romantic story between a high-tech cyborg (Ayase Haruka) from the future and her inventor boyfriend Kitamura Jiro (Koide Keisuke).
Like the previous two installments, the heroine is likable and stiff, while Jiro is clumsy but affectionate to the cyborg.
The film has breath-taking special effects, especially during the climactic destruction of Tokyo.
In Cyborg She, Kwak moves the action from South Korea to Japan. He is looking forward to shooting his next film in China.
"If I have a chance to make a sassy girl film in China, the heroine will definitely be a combination of all my previous three sassy girls," Kwak told a press conference in Beijing on Monday.
