China to continue to help US look for missing servicemen
Adjust font size:

China will continue to provide assistance to the United States in finding the remains of its military personnel missing from the Korean War, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said on Thursday.

Responding to a question concerning the country's agreement to open records relating to missing servicemen, Liu said, China had always helped the United States to search for the remains of missing soldiers on domestic soil.

Relevant departments of both countries were currently consulting with each other on launching military archives cooperation so as to help find U.S. military personnel missing in China before and after the Korean War, Liu said.

The Pentagon announced on Tuesday China would allow the United States access to its military archives to facilitate the search for U.S. servicemen never accounted for.

The Korean War started in June 1950 and ended in July 1953.
