A Japanese porn star who opened a microblog account on a Chinese website has attracted over 520,000 fans in less than 10 days, boasting the fastest growing number of followers within that period so far.

Sora Aoi created her account on sina.com.cn on her 27th birthday, which fell on the 11th of this month.

"Sora Aoi has had the fastest growing number of fans so far," a member of staff from the website's customer services told the Global Times Sunday.

Sora herself has expressed amazement at how fast her legions of fans have grown in such a short time.

"It was so unexpected that the number of fans on my microblog here would exceed that on Twitter so easily. I have also been very moved by the fact that many fans have replied to me in English or Japanese," Sora wrote in one of her tweets.

Her Chinese fans have been equally enthusiastic.

"Hi, I like your films and I am amazed at your changes," one user wrote under the name NNcc.

Sora Aoi began her adult film career in 2002. Her young looks and 90-centimeter chest have made her a hugely popular adult video star in Asian countries.

Sora Aoi became a sudden and unlikely celebrity in China on April 23 this year, when she appealed to followers on her Twitter account to donate to people affected by the deadly earthquake in Yushu, Qinghai Province.

The website's customer services staff member told the Global Times that because of the nature of Sora Aoi's work, content on her microblog would be supervised to prevent obscene postings.
