All eight people aboard a mini-bus were killed after the bus collided with a heavy-duty truck Friday in China's far western Xinjiang region, local authorities said.

The accident occured at about 9:50 a.m. in Jimsar County in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, leaving the eight passengers dead at the scene, the prefecture government said in a statement.

The only one driver in the truck was safe and sound with no injuries.

Traffic police in Jimsar were investigating the accident.
