The government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has proposed an imposition of a comprehensive tobacco ban in all local casinos in three years, as it was drafting an anti-tobacco bill, the Macao Post Daily reported on Tuesday.

Under the new version of the bill, there would be no areas in the casinos where patrons were permitted to smoke, according to the daily newspaper.

In addition to local casinos, smoking ban will also be imposed on sauna parlors, massage parlors and ballrooms when the new law takes effect, the daily also said.

Meanwhile, the SAR government will also change the labeling requirements for cigarette packages based on the example of Hong Kong, said Chan Chak Mo, who chairs the Second Standing Committee of the SAR's Legislative Assembly.

He also said the SAR government would submit the revised draft of the bill to the committee as soon as next Tuesday.
