Beijing has achieved its 2024 investment promotion targets, attracting 9,945 new projects under its "two zones" initiative valued at 1.02 trillion yuan ($14.24 billion). This includes 1,375 foreign-funded projects with a strong 52.9% implementation rate, according to the Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau.

Projects from Beijing's investment reserve pool played a significant role in the city's 2024 economic development, contributing 12.5% to total fixed-asset investment and 63.8% to foreign capital utilization. A total of 317 major projects were successfully implemented from this pool. This included 261 domestic projects, each exceeding 1 billion yuan, totaling 1.17 trillion yuan, and 56 foreign-funded projects, each over $50 million, totaling $14.39 billion.

The bureau attributed these accomplishments to enhanced support services for foreign-funded enterprises. For instance, the city established a regular contact mechanism for international business associations and foreign companies. 

Beijing held 200 investment promotion activities in 2024. These included three high-level events: the "Invest in Beijing" Conference at the Zhongguancun Forum, "Beijing Day" at the China International Fair for Trade in Services, and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Investment Promotion Conference. These events led to 55 project agreements worth 122 billion yuan and the announcement of 602 investment opportunities.

Looking ahead, Beijing aims to further strengthen its investment promotion efforts, focusing on protecting the rights and interests of foreign-funded and private enterprises while boosting investors' confidence. The capital will also target increased investment from Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. It will focus on connecting with Middle Eastern capital institutions to attract investment in Beijing's technology enterprises and projects.
