A former staff member of Gucci (China) filed a formal complaint last Friday that the company had not paid for extra hours worked. The dispute is going to arbitration, National Business Daily reported.

"Gucci decided not to renew my labor contract after it expired this May, and the company also deducted my bonus payments," the employee, who asked not to be named, said. The employee said he worked for Gucci (China) for five years.

Gucci refused to comment on the labor dispute. The company confirmed, however, that staff members are typically paid for working extra hours according to the company’s rules, and in practice management sticks to the rules.

Employers should not arrange more than three hours of overtime work for employees each day, and no more than 36 overtime hours should be scheduled each month, according to Chinese labor laws.
