Chinese shares close slightly lower at midday Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.12 percent, or 34.96 points, to 3100.04 in the morning session.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 0.42 percent, or 56.92 points, to close the morning session at 13,657.37.
