China's equities rose at the opening Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.18 percent to open at 3,009.22.

The Shenzhen Component Index was up 0.35 percent to open at 13,175.52.

China's National Bureau of Statistics is set to release the economic data for the third quarter this year on Thursday.
