Chinese equities close lower at midday Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 7.99 points, or 0.3 percent, to finish the morning session at 2,663.91 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 19.06 points or 0.17 percent to end at 11,262.91 points at midday.
