Sunshine Insurance Group has decided to increase its registered capital by 3 billion yuan this year, after adding 2 billion yuan last year to fuel its rapid expansion, the company said in a statement on Friday.

By May 19, the company had received 10 billion yuan in premium income, almost equaling that of 2009. Sunshine's life-insurance arm received 5.89 billion yuan and the non-life insurer got 4.2 billion yuan, ranking 8th and 7th respectively among the country's 115 insurers.
