No oil leaked into the Yangtze River when an oil tanker collided into a passenger vessel Saturday evening in the water areas near Yubei District in Chongqing Municipality, southwest China.

About 40 of the 70-plus injured passengers have been discharged from hospital, and there is no report of death or missing cases, a local marine official said Sunday.

 

The passenger vessel, Guanzhong 3, with an accommodation capacity of 340 people, carried over 90 passengers, ran into the oil tanker, Fengshi 301, which was loaded with 320 tons of gasoline, at 20:20 Saturday night.

 

The official said that the body of the passenger ship was damaged upon the crash, but the oil tanker had almost no breakage with no oil leakage into the river. Gasoline on the tanker has been siphoned to a rescue ship and taken away safely.

 

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
